Arranging results
Drag cards into the order you want, and remove the ones you do not.
Results come back in the order the search ranks them, best match first. Once a search is saved, though, the order is yours: drag cards to where you want them and remove the ones you do not need. The arrangement is kept with the search.
Only on a saved search
Dragging and removing work only when the search has been saved to your history, and that happens only when you are signed in. Signed out, the cards stay where the search put them. See Signing up and signing in.
A search you reopen from your history can be arranged too; see Search history.
Dragging a card
The whole card is the handle: press anywhere on it and move. A drag begins only after the pointer has moved a little, so the card's buttons still work as buttons. While you drag, a copy of the card follows the pointer and the original fades.
Drop the card in the same column to change its place there, or in another column to move it across, including a column you have emptied. A moment after you let go, the new order is saved and a message says "New order saved." If saving fails, the message says so instead.
There is no keyboard shortcut for dragging.
Removing a card
The X in the card's icon row, "Remove card", takes the card out of the set at once. A message says "Card removed." and offers Undo. The removal is saved when that message closes; Undo before then puts the card back where it was and keeps any drag you made in the meantime.
Removing hides the card from this saved search only. Nothing is deleted from the libraries, and the passage can come back in a fresh search.
Removing a card takes it out of its own column; the other cards stay where you put them.
On a different screen size
The grid shows three columns on a wide window, two on a medium one and one on a phone. The arrangement is kept for the number of columns you made it at. With a different number of columns (a narrower window, or someone opening your shared link on a phone) the cards are dealt out again in your order, read row by row across the columns. Going back to the original width restores the arrangement. Dragging a card at another width, or removing one at two columns, makes a new arrangement for that width instead. Removing a card on a phone keeps the wider arrangement.
What the arrangement is for
When you reopen the search from your history, the cards appear as you left them, minus the ones you removed. And when you share the results, the link freezes exactly that arrangement, so the reader sees the set you put together rather than the raw ranking.
