Your data and privacy
What is stored, what is not, and how to delete it.
This page is a plain summary of what the tool keeps and where. The Privacy Policy is the full statement and the one that governs; the Terms of Service cover the rest.
If you are not signed in
Your last 5 searches and your filter settings (libraries, result count and the advanced options) are stored in this browser only; a year range, if you set one, is kept only for the tab you set it in. They are not tied to you and do not follow you to another device. Clearing the browser's site data removes them.
If you have an account
- Your email address and the name you enter.
- Your search history, with each search's results cached for 30 days from the last run, or permanently while the search is starred.
- Your notebooks, their saved passages and their notes.
- Every share snapshot you create, for as long as the account exists.
- Feedback you send while signed in is attached to your account.
Filter settings stay in the browser even when you are signed in. See Signing up and signing in for what an account is for.
How a search is handled
Search works by meaning, and to find the meaning of your query the text you type is sent to OpenAI, which turns it into a numeric vector. That vector is what the search compares against the passages. The site uses only the cookies it needs to work. It uses Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to measure traffic and page speed, and Sentry to record errors. The Privacy Policy names each provider and what it receives.
Deleting your account
On the home page, open "Settings" in the sidebar and stay on the Profile tab. Under "Danger zone", click "Delete account…" and type your email to confirm. This cannot be undone.
- Deleted: your search history, notebooks and passages, profile, login, and every share link you created.
- Kept: feedback you already sent, with its link to you removed.
- This browser's saved searches and filter settings are cleared too, and you are signed out.
Contact and feedback
Use the feedback form for questions, bugs and suggestions. It needs no sign-in. Add your email only if you would like a reply.
