Signing up and signing in
What an account adds, and how to create one.
You can search without an account. An account is for keeping what you find. Everything is free, for everyone, and there is no paid tier.
What an account adds
- Search history kept in your account and synced across your devices.
- Saved result sets: reopening a past search shows the same cards, without searching again.
- Starring a search to keep its results permanently.
- Arranging result cards by dragging, and removing the ones you do not want.
- Sharing a set of results with a link.
- Notebooks: saving passages, adding notes, pinning and sharing.
- Profile settings: your name and email, and the option to delete the account.
See Search history and Notebooks for the details.
Creating an account
Go to Sign up and enter your email, a password of at least 8 characters, and the password again to confirm it. A "Check your email" screen follows. The email holds a confirmation link that opens a page with a "Confirm my account" button. Click it and you are signed in; no separate login is needed.
If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder. A link that has already been used, or has expired, says so. There is no resend button: signing up again with the same address sends a fresh link.
Logging in
Go to Log in and enter your email and password. A wrong password shows "Invalid email or password." After 5 attempts in 15 minutes the page says "Too many login attempts. Please try again in a few minutes." When you log in from another page on the site, you are returned to it afterwards.
Forgot your password
Click "Forgot your password?" on the login page and enter your email. The email holds a link that opens a page with a "Continue" button, then asks for a new password twice. This is also the only way to change your password; there is no password field in Settings.
Changing your name or email
On the home page, click "Settings" in the sidebar, or "Profile" in your account menu. The Profile tab holds your full name and email; changes take effect when you click "Apply & Close". A new email address must be confirmed from a link sent to that address, and a note shows the change as pending until you do.
Signing out
Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then "Log out". On a phone, tap the avatar in the bottom bar instead. The avatar shows your initials.
